About
Written from the shore of Skadar Lake.
Skadar Lake Guide is an independent editorial project run by a small team of locals and long-time residents around Virpazar. We write about the lake because we've lived here for years, been out with the operators ourselves, and know the mistakes visitors make in summer. Recommendations are never paid — commercial partners are clearly marked, and every recommendation goes through editorial review.
The site exists because the internet is full of Skadar Lake content written from other countries, generalising from a single day trip. We wanted a resource that reflects what actually happens on the water in July, in November, in a shoulder-season week when the wooden boats sit empty.
We accept no paid rankings. Where we recommend a local operator, an apartment or a restaurant, it's because we send our own guests there. A small number of outbound links are commercial partnerships with businesses we know personally — flagged with a sponsored attribute and never affecting editorial ranking.
Questions, corrections, additions — write to us via the contact page. If you're planning your first visit, start with the first-timer guide.
